The particulars will be different for each traveler. We'll focus on:
- Timing your move properly LESSON 1
- Determining and reaching your budget LESSON 2
- Buying your ticket LESSON 3
- What you should pack and what you should leave behind LESSON 4
- How to shut down your life at home so you leave no dangling threads behind. LESSON 5
Remember, a successful move is well-planned.
FOR NON-EU CITIZENS
If you are non-EU, you must have a Visa to come to the Czech Republic. The citizens of several states (for example, the United States) are granted an automatic 90-Day Tourist Visa when they fly to Czech Republic. Other nationalities must apply for that 90-Day visa before they fly to the Czech Republic. Be sure to check the rules specific to your nationality.
If you are non-EU, you will be applying for a long-stay visa for up to one year (toward the end of the year, you can apply for long-term residency, allowing you to stay longer). Depending on your citizenship, you may have to apply from your home country, or you might be able to apply once you come to Europe.
This will obviously affect what you have to accomplish before you even travel to Prague, so MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE VISA MODULE FOR INFORMATION before making any definite travel plans.
Your passport should have at least 2 empty pages and not expire within 2 years of your arrival in Czech Republic. We explain why in our VISA MODULE.
Check your passport and make arrangements to renew it if you need.
